Denver Firefighters Take On Large Brush Fire

March 20, 2008 ~ Around 1430 Denver Firefighters were called to the area Northwest of Hampden Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard for a weed fire. First arriving Company 28 found a large wind driven brush fire spreading rapidly to the east. An additional engine was called for by Chief 7, the assignment was upgraded shortly after to a full group. Engine & Truck 28 made access from a bike path and began working the fire, Engine 25 established a water supply and put their deck gun in operation. The fire took nearly a half hour to control and at one point Tower 23 used their aerial master stream for hitting hot spots. No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged, the fire was around 2 acres in size.
