Green Mountain Interface Fire

July 21, 2008 ~ In the mid afternoon West Metro Firefighters were alerted to a small vegetation fire in the open space near West Alaska Place & Fig Street. District Chief 2 quickly reported visible smoke from as far away as Kippling & Quincy prompting Dispatch to add an additional Engine & Brush to the incident. As units were enroute multiple callers reported a fast moving fire with structures threatened and possibly one home on fire. Two additional Engines were ordered and soon a full Structural Response was filled. The fire had started in a greenbelt and spread uphill into trees, a fence line and began to burn the wooden deck attached to one house. Crews contained the fire at about 2 acres and prevented any damage to the homes.
