House Off & 2nd Alarm Ordered In The Ranch

March 1, 2008 ~ Just after 0430 Littleton Firefighters were called to the 1700 block of Jules Court for a reported structure fire. First due Engine 17 could see a large body of fire on approach from Highlands Ranch Parkway and arrived a short time later to find a two story home with a fully involved garage threatening a neighboring home. The crew from Company 17 immediately went into defensive operations and protected the exposure home. Second due Engine 18 laid in a near hose bed full of supply line to 17's. Crews from 15 & 16 also arrived on the first alarm and went to work; the operation was changed to offensive mode about 30 minutes into the call and a second alarm was ordered. Crews spent the next hour working the house of origin and only one engine from the second alarm was held to assist. The neighboring home sustained damage to the siding with no extension inside, later in the day the cause was released a space heater.
