July 4, 2008 ~ Around 1730 while multiple units were committed to the Griggs Road Fire, a second brush fire was reported in the open space behind 9051 Kenwood Court.  Squrt 12 & Ladder 16 responded as Control tried to find an available brush truck.  The first due units found a large, fast moving brush fire with extension to the siding of one structure and several others threatened.  An immediate second alarm was called for and a desperate effort to save homes was made by the crews & homeowners on scene.  Crews from 12, 13 & 16 stopped the fire from extending into the home and prevented any damage to neighboring homes.  Crews from 11, 15, 19 & 38 also made a great stop on the very quick moving fire.  An adult playing with fireworks started the fire and charges are pending, no injuries were reported.
