3 Alarms Go To Work In Highlands Ranch

June 25, 2008 ~ At 14:11 hours Littleton Fire Communications alerted Littleton & Parker-South Metro Firefighters to a reported structure fire at 6098 Blue River Drive, at the Palomino Park Condos. Units observed the smoke column from miles out, prompting Battalion 1 to order a 2nd alarm prior to arrival. First due units found a fully involved second floor unit with heavy fire conditions spreading into the attic and neighboring units. Multiple crews worked in mid 90 degree temperatures for over an hour trying to gain the upper hand. Just before 15:20 an withdraw signal was made due to structural instability. Shortly after the abandon an equivalent 3rd alarm was requested to the scene and crews went defensive for a period of time. The fire was knocked and smoke conditions subsided by 16:00. One firefighter was treated for minor heat exposure, no other injuries were reported and all searches proved negative.
